Door and Garage Door Replacement in Lakeland, FL
Replacing every interior door, upgrading entry and patio doors, or putting in a new wind-rated garage door? DBR Construction handles full door changeouts across Polk County.
What Is a Full Door Changeout?
A full door changeout replaces a whole set of doors at once: every interior door and its hardware, all of the exterior doors, or the garage door. Doing it as one package means every door matches in style, finish and hardware, the trim and casings are replaced or refinished together, and the work is done in a few days instead of dragging on one door at a time.
Exterior doors in Florida carry extra requirements. Entry doors, patio doors and garage doors have to be rated for the wind pressures at your home, and replacing them usually requires a permit. The garage door is often the largest and weakest opening in a house during a hurricane, so upgrading to an impact-rated or wind-rated garage door is one of the most effective ways to protect your home. We verify product approvals and install each door to its tested specifications.

Common Door Replacement Questions
Usually, yes. Exterior doors and garage doors must meet Florida Building Code wind requirements, and replacing them typically requires a permit in Polk County and its cities. We handle the permit and inspection.
An impact-rated garage door is tested to withstand wind-borne debris as well as wind pressure, so it can protect the opening during a hurricane without separate shutters. A wind-rated door meets the pressure requirements but is not necessarily impact-tested.
Replacing them all at once gives you matching doors and hardware throughout, lets us update the trim at the same time and is usually more cost-effective than replacing doors one by one.
A whole-house interior door changeout or a set of exterior doors often takes a few days once the doors arrive. Special-order and impact-rated products can have lead times of several weeks.
They may. Impact-rated openings can qualify for wind mitigation credits on some homeowners policies. Ask your insurance agent, and we can provide the product documentation they need.
A wind-rated door only performs if it is installed the way it was tested: the right frame, the right fasteners at the right spacing and an opening that can carry the load. We install every exterior door and garage door to its product approval, pull the permit and have it inspected, so you know the rating on paper is the rating on your house.
